Pirates Come Back Late to Top Orioles
|
Richie Hebner made an impact in the 9-4 Pittsburgh win over Baltimore. Hebner, who is tied for 5th in the NL in total bases with 242, was 4-6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The second-place Pirates have won 6 straight games.
The result might have been different for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Johnny Groth. The left fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 5-4. For the game, Groth had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hebner. "And not try to do too much."
