Royals Lose to Yankees, 4-2
The Bronx Yankees got a stellar performance from pitcher Matt Young, who handcuffed the Kansas City offense en route to a 4-2 win at Yankee Stadium I. Bronx reliever Jose Mijares was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Mark Littell. Bronx has now won 4 in a row.
Bob Nieman drove in one run for Bronx. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Mark Littell. It was his 57th RBI of the season.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Bronx skipper Cley Twigg. "I can't complain."
