Yankees Rally For Late Win Over Expos
|
The Bronx Yankees topped the Montreal Expos by the score of 6-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Bob Nieman. Nieman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Yankees on the day. Bronx reliever Don Mossi picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Cy Buker was saddled with the loss. At 67-67, the Yankees find themselves in second place in the American League Down.
Bronx used the bat of Scooter Gennett to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gennett told the Bronx Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
