Expos Topple White Sox with Late Rally
|
The Montreal Expos faced a tough opponent in South Side pitcher Freddy Garcia, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Comisky Park by a final score of 8-5. Garcia went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Pat Caraway, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Cy Buker, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
It could have been a different outcome for Montreal, had it not been for Francisco Lindor, the four-time All-Star . Lindor contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Montreal up, 6-5.
In postgame comments to the Montreal Citizen, Lindor said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Losses have been few and far between for the White Sox, who are now 10-3.
