Edmonds has 3 hit day, Rockies Move to 79-51
The Colorado Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 10-4, at Astrodome. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Jim Edmonds, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mike Boddicker was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jim R Johnson earned his 4th save in 4 chances.

The Rockies got a big at-bat from center fielder Anthony Gose. For the game, Gose was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Colorado a 2-0 lead.
