The Montreal Expos defeated the Detroit Tigers, 13-1, at Tiger Stadium today. Leading the charge for Montreal was left fielder Al L Martin. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Mike L Griffin got the win, improving to 9-7. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Pat Caraway converted his 3rd save in 5 tries.

Martin put Montreal up, 11-1, when he hit a grand slam home run off Frank Eufemia in the top of the third. His 14th home run of the season helped the Expos capture the win.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Chuck Glidden said.
