Red Sox Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Bronx
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the Bronx Yankees, 6-2, at Fenway Park. The Red Sox got a fine performance from catcher Sal Fasano, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Boston has now won 3 straight, while the Yankees have lost 3 in a row.
Fasano contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Boston in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Fasano took a fastball from Kerry Wood and stroked the home run to left-center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Red Sox to leap in front, 4-1.
Fasano called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
