The Sub League 2 Reliever of the Year Award for 2001 has been bestowed on Madison Express relief specialist Jim Bethke.

The 32-year-old bullpen ace, out of Falls City, Nebraska, nailed down the award with 20 saves in 58 relief appearances, 96 strikeouts in 88 innings and a record of 2 wins and 6 losses to go with his 1.84 ERA.

He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Bob Osborn of the Chesterfield Royals finished second in voting, while A.J. Puk of the Madison Mallards finished third.
