Chesterfield Moves on to World Series
Friday, September 21st , 2001
The championship aspirations of the Chesterfield Royals are still alive and well, while the Madison Mallards are left to wait until next year.

Chesterfield won the clinching game of the League Championship Series 3-2 over Madison at Swarm Field, to win the series 4-1.

"You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said center fielder Lou Johnson, who paced the Chesterfield offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit."

Johnson claimed the MVP by racking up 5 hits for a .333 average, with a .368 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Chesterfield Royals will play against the Tampa Deputies in the next round. Tampa won their series against the Hudson Valley Renegades 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
