Deputies Win Division 1 Crown Saturday, September 15th , 2001 The Tampa Deputies have held off the opposition and are Division 1 champions. It was certainly no easy task as the club had a tough challenge for the division crown throughout the year, but in the end they have prevailed for the franchise's 5th division title. "You can't get complacent when the standings are as close as they are, so our guys have been focused," the club's skipper said of his team's triumph. "We're going to celebrate this one, that's for sure." The club will be going for its 2nd World Series and optimism is running high. "Why not us? We can certainly win this thing," said left fielder Walton Cruise. |
