Cruise Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, September 12th , 2001 No matter what the Garland Americans threw at him, Walton Cruise hit it. He easily handled Americans pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Deputies triumph, 14-0, at Americans Park. "The way I was swinging, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview. Told of Cruise's quip, Americans skipper said he "would take him up on that next time." Walton Cruise singled in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Currently Cruise has 32 home runs and a .348 batting average. |
