Gonzalez Bashes 5 Base Hits
Sunday, August 26th , 2001
It was a high-five day for Fernando Gonzalez, at least for a while.
The Madison second baseman got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Tulsa Swordfish, but they were in short supply at the end, as Tulsa won the game, 6-5. Gonzalez finished with an impressive 5-for-7 line, but the Mallards couldn't hold off the Swordfish.
"Fernando was hitting everything," said Mallards manager . "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."
Fernando Gonzalez singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and grounded out in the 12th.
Currently Gonzalez has 13 home runs and a .307 batting average.
