Wednesday, August 15th , 2001
Jake Smolinski was sizzling at the plate. In a game played at Rattlers Park, the Honolulu left fielder blistered the Hudson Valley Renegades for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a good 11-4 victory.

"Smolinski was too tough to get out," Renegades skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

Jake Smolinski singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off George Barnicle in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This year, Smolinski has collected a .289 batting average to date with 106 hits in 367 at-bats, 86 RBIs, 19 home runs and scored 69 times. He has played in 109 games.
