Ranaudo Thwarts Lansing, 4-0
Sunday, August 12th , 2001
The Lansing Lugnuts were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the New Haven Ravens and hurler Anthony Ranaudo. Ranaudo kept the Lugnuts confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Ranaudo," Lansing manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 25-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Ranaudo said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Ranaudo has gone 4-1 this season with an ERA of 2.56 and 23 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .224 against him.
