Red-Hot Inge Scorches Arrows
Sunday, July 1st , 2001
Brandon Inge of the Oxnard Silverbacks had a big day with the bat at Arrows Field as he bashed out hit after hit after hit against the Henderson Arrows. Nevertheless, his big day at the plate couldn't secure the win for the Silverbacks, who fell, 6-5.
"Guys, it's just one game in a long season -- I hit it hard and found some holes, and bingo, 5 hits in 5 at-bats," a visibly unhappy Inge said later. "They don't really mean anything at this point."
At the end of the day, Inge had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book, but it was the final score that was on his mind. Brandon Inge walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Looking at his season stats, Inge has compiled a .287 batting average and a .348 on-base percentage, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 31 runs.
