Don Drysdale walked away with the top pitching honors in the National League this year. The New York (N) Mets starter was named the Cy Young Award winner for 2001 earlier today.

This outstanding 21-year-old hurler fashioned a fine 21-4 won-lost record in 29 starts. He threw 217 innings, giving up 153 hits and 46 walks and holding opponents to a .192 average. Drysdale struck out 239 and posted a 2.36 ERA.

He received 2 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Frank Baumann of the Arizona Diamondbacks finished second in voting, while Paul Erickson of the New York (N) Mets finished third.
