He may only be 20, but Felix Heredia of the Texas Rangers has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the American League.
The reliever was today named the AL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2001.
He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 35 saves in 72 relief appearances and 83 strikeouts in 76 innings. He had a record of 4-7 to go with his 1.66 ERA.
He ended up tied with Bobby Jenks with 8 total votes and 1 first place votes.
