Valentin's Condition Worse, Suffers Another Setback Saturday, October 20th , 2001 The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that John Valentin would be missing for longer than expected as the 30-year-old shortstop recovers from a severely strained hip muscle. "John had been working out with the team recently, but felt some discomfort yesterday," the Cardinals GM explained to the press. "After re-examining the injury, the team's medical staff decided that Valentin would need extra time to heal. Their estimate is 4 weeks more recovery time." So far this season, Valentin has recorded a .242 batting average with 133 hits, 25 home runs, 70 RBIs, 75 runs scored and a .309 OBP. |
