Razor-Sharp Tomko Blanks New York (N)
Sunday, October 7th , 2001
Arizona's Brett Tomko brought his best stuff to Chase Field, shutting down and shutting out the New York (N) Mets, 9-0. He racked up 10 strikeouts, surrendered 4 hits, and issued no walks on his way to the victory.
"We barely made him work at all," New York (N) manager Jamie Dagostini said later. "Arizona could probably pitch him again tomorrow if they wanted."
In 25 starts this season, Tomko has crafted a 15-4 record with a 3.60 ERA.
