Bottomley Booms 300th Homer Tuesday, October 2nd , 2001 Swinging his way into the record books, Jim Bottomley reached the 300 homer mark today at Chase Field against the Philadelphia Phillies. He went 2-for-5 with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs on the day, although Arizona would go down to defeat 7-6. "It was a distraction," Bottomley said of his 300th home run. "I'm happy it's over. I just wish I'd been able to make a difference in the outcome today." Bottomley is batting .320 with 1841 career base hits, including 485 doubles, 37 triples and 301 home runs with 1101 RBIs and 1106 runs scored.
