Swinging his way into the record books, Jim Bottomley reached the 300 homer mark today at Chase Field against the Philadelphia Phillies. He went 2-for-5 with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs on the day, although Arizona would go down to defeat 7-6.

"It was a distraction," Bottomley said of his 300th home run. "I'm happy it's over. I just wish I'd been able to make a difference in the outcome today."

Bottomley is batting .320 with 1841 career base hits, including 485 doubles, 37 triples and 301 home runs with 1101 RBIs and 1106 runs scored. He has played in 1609 games, stolen 83 bases and compiled a .416 OBP.
