Arizona Starting Pitcher Best Rookie Monday, October 1st , 2001 Last month was a very successful month for Brett Tomko of Arizona. So successful that he has been honored as the Rookie of the Month in the National League. Tomko shut down league hitters in fine fashion, rounding out September with an impressive 5-1 mark and 3.22 ERA in 6 starts with 29 strikeouts in 36.1 innings. Up to now Tomko has compiled an ERA of 3.60 with a 15-4 mark over 25 starts. He has 144 strikeouts in 167.1 innings and has held opponents to a .224 batting average. |
