Philadelphia Won't Make Playoffs Saturday, September 29th , 2001 Philadelphia Phillies closer Ken Howell said it is a "bitter disappointment" for he and his teammates to miss the playoffs. The remarks came hours after the club was mathematically eliminated from 2001 postseason contention. Before this season, the Phillies last missed the playoffs in 1996. In the 22 years they have been a Fellowship of Respect and Trust franchise, they have made the playoffs 10 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Phillies have missed the playoffs 3 times. |
