Smashing Success: McNulty Wallops 3 HR Wednesday, September 26th , 2001 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Miller County Field were taking cover all day long as Pat McNulty zeroed in on them, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. The big game from the Minnesota left fielder helped the Twins take the victory, 17-3, over the Milwaukee Brewers. "I told myself not to press on the last one," he told reporters in the postgame press conference. "I knew I couldn't force it -- it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game, he collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 5 and scored 3 runs. Pat McNulty hit a solo-shot off Vern Olsen in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Montgomery in the 5th, hit a sac fly in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Sam Gaviglio in the 9th. So far this season, McNulty is hitting .282 with 23 home runs. |
