No Playoff Berth Coming for Cleveland Sunday, September 23rd , 2001 It won't be a season to remember for the Cleveland Guardians, as the club has officially missed out on the playoffs. The Guardians were mathematically eliminated from qualification today. "With any luck, in a couple years we will look back on the 2001 season as an important stepping stone to a title," said Cleveland catcher Clay Dalrymple. This is the club's 7th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1994. In total, the Guardians have missed the playoffs 18 times in their 22-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Guardians have made the playoffs 2 times. |
