Great Stroke: Trosky Gets 5 Hits Monday, September 10th , 2001 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Hal Trosky -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Miami Park, but the performance lost a little luster when the Marlins were downed, 9-7, by the Chicago (N) Cubs. After his glittering performance, the Miami first baseman told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book, too," Trosky said. Hal Trosky hit a two-run home run off Dustin Hermanson in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
