Rookie Wiz Gets August Award in AL Saturday, September 1st , 2001 For a young man just making his way into the American League, Turk Farrell has shown incredible poise and confidence over the past month, netting him the coveted Rookie of the Month Award. In August he fashioned a 4-1 mark and a 2.78 ERA. The New York (A) starter struck out 24 in 32.1 innings as he walked 12 and held opposing batters to a .219 average. In 24 starts this season, Farrell has crafted a 11-6 record with a 3.88 ERA. |
