Wednesday, August 29th , 2001
Chalk up another one for Texas Rangers left fielder Billy Williams. He now has hit in 20 straight games. Williams went 2-for-5 in today's game at Yankee Stadium but saw his club defeated, 8-4, by the host New York (A) Yankees.
"Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Rangers manager Kyle Shea said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one." Billy Williams singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season, Williams has produced 150 hits in 430 at-bats for a .349 average with 35 home runs and gotten on base at a .399 clip.
