Chicago (A) Beats Texas, 6-4
|
Billy Williams did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Texas Rangers from being beaten, 6-4, to the Chicago (A) White Sox at Comiskey Park. Williams went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Red Munger, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-9. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Chicago (A) is now 59-41, Texas 42-59.
In the bottom of the third, Chicago (A) second baseman Daryl Spencer had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Spencer stroked a 2-run single to left-center. It made the score 5-2, Chicago (A). For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Spencer. "You've got to get results."
