A 4-RBI performance from left fielder Bobby Higginson, who finished 3rd in the AL in doubles with 48 in 1999, led the Milwaukee Brewers to a win over the St. Louis Cardinals, 14-5. The winning pitcher was Jose Lima. His record now stands at 1-1. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Brewers. The victory makes Milwaukee 7-3, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2001.

The Brewers got a big boost from catcher Johnny Romano who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Cardinals hurler Milo Candini. It was his 3rd walk of the season and put Milwaukee on top, 1-0.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Milwaukee manager Mike Ejercito.
