Mets Stay Hot, Beat Yankees, 8-2
|
The New York (N) Mets and starting pitcher Paul Erickson stifled the New York (A) offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Shea Stadium. The Mets have now won 5 straight.
The Mets got a big hit from right fielder Frank Robinson. In the bottom of the sixth, Robinson smacked a 2-run double off New York (A) pitcher Kevin Ritz. It was his 31st double of the season. Suddenly, the Mets were ahead, 2-1.
"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said New York (A) manager Brett Fogerson.
