St. Louis Downs Seattle as Welch Tosses 3-0 Shutout
Johnny Welch was dynamite at Busch Stadium, blowing away the Seattle Mariners in a shutout victory. The St. Louis Cardinals starter had everything working as he held the Mariners to 3 hits in the 3-0 win.

"He was pure nasty out there today," said Seattle skipper Tyler Jorgensen. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."

Welch finished the game with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

To date this season, Welch is 8-7 with 20 starts and an ERA of 4.97 with 84 strikeouts in 134 innings.
