The Philadelphia Phillies downed the Minnesota Twins, 9-6, at Veterans Stadium. The Phillies were led by Ketel Marte. Marte went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Philadelphia pitcher Chris Archer got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Marty Janzen got the loss. Ken Howell earned the save for Philadelphia, his 3rd of the year.

Willy Aybar took Minnesota hurler Marty Janzen deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Phillies on top, 4-3. In all, Aybar had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I believe in our guys," said Philadelphia skipper Jason Spiegel. "I like the energy they're playing with."
