Expos Make Rangers 5-2 Losers
|
The Montreal Expos got a stellar performance from pitcher John Dopson, who handcuffed the Texas offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Globe Life Field. Dopson, the winner, moves to 9-5. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Texas has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Eddie Mathews to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Expos ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Said losing manager Kyle Shea: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
