The Minnesota Twins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4, at Metropolitan Stadium. Leading the charge for Minnesota was shortstop Bobby Morgan. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Brusdar Graterol closed the game out for Minnesota, earning his 18th save. The Twins now have a record of 48-47 with the win over Philadelphia.
Eddie Lake, who is tied for 7th in the AL in bases on balls with 43, took Philadelphia hurler Joel Zumaya deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Twins on top, 5-4. In all, Lake had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It never gets old," said Morgan. "Winning, that is."
