|
Dillon Gee pitched a gem to lead Montreal to victory over the Texas Rangers, 7-1. Gee, now 8-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was Danny Patterson. He's now 10 for 11 in save chances.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Paul Janish to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Expos ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning is contagious," said Janish. "We're looking forward to the next game."
Montreal raised its record to 56-36 with the win.
