St. Louis Upended by Houston, 7-1
|
St. Louis had no answer for Houston Astros hurler Cliff Lee, who overwhelmed Cardinals hitters as the Astros coasted to victory, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Lee, now 7-8. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. After today's action, Houston sits at 44-49; St. Louis slips to 36-59.
Regardless of the outcome, those who came to Minute Maid Park for the National League contest enjoyed being there.
"Cliff did a good job of shutting their lineup down," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
