Leius Helps Yankees Beat Giants, 7-5
|
The 7-5 New York (A) win over San Francisco was due in large part to Scott Leius. The Yankees first baseman was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Yorman Bazardo nailed down the save. The Giants drop to 5-5 and continue their mediocre start to the 2001 season.
New York (A) center fielder Barney McCosky contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 6-0.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said McCosky.
