New York (A) Nets 2-1 Win Versus Rangers
|
Globe Life Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The New York (A) Yankees took Texas pitcher Paul Menhart's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Globe Life Field. The final score had New York (A) getting past the Rangers, 2-1. Menhart went 8.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Gary Gentry picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 3-5. Yorman Bazardo earned his 18th save in 24 chances.
Ben Francisco, who is tied for 9th in the AL in RBI with 63, had a direct impact on the outcome. Francisco contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put New York (A) up, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Francisco hailed his team's "mettle."
The setback makes Texas 39-53.
