Diamondbacks 2-1 Victors Over Colorado
|
In a tight affair between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies, pitcher Matt Young was in the zone. The Arizona left-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. Young, the winner, moves to 8-5. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Dave Veres, who is a three-time All-Star, earned the save for Arizona.
The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from left fielder Daulton Varsho. For the game, Varsho was 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Arizona a 2-1 lead.
"Matt made the big pitches when he needed to," said Arizona manager Alex Baxter.
Arizona is now 47-41. Colorado is 50-41.
