The Montreal Expos topped the Houston Astros, 7-3, at Stade Olympique. Montreal catcher Todd Hundley was a spark plug for the offense. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Expos have now reeled off 6 straight wins.

John Hale had a big 3-run home run for the Expos in the bottom of the second inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Luis Castillo, who finished 2nd in the NL in strikeouts with 196 in 1997, and punished it. The result was his 23rd home run of the season, which put the Expos on top, 5-1.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
