Phillies Turn Back Marlins, 4-2
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Miami Marlins, 4-2, at Miami Park. Leading the charge for Philadelphia was third baseman Willy Aybar. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joe Johnson was the winner. He's now 5-6. The loser was Steve McCatty. Ramon Troncoso earned the save, his 3rd, for the Phillies.
Philadelphia won the game in part because of Frank White. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Phillies ahead, 2-0. For the game, White had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
Aybar attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
Miami has now lost 5 straight.
