Montreal third baseman Eddie Mathews contributed significantly to his team's 9-5 win over the Houston Astros. Mathews, who finished 5th in the NL in slugging percentage with .597 in 1997, went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Expos. Montreal has now won 5 games in a row.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Stade Olympique seemed to enjoy watching the National League action.
