Red Sox Lose Late, 6-3
|
The New York (A) Yankees topped the Boston Red Sox, 6-3, in American League action at Fenway Park. The standout performance belonged to New York (A) pitcher and Selma, California, native Ed Head. Head yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-8. Yorman Bazardo earned save number 17 this season.
New York (A) needed the clutch hitting of Scott Leius to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-3. For the game, Leius had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Leius.
The 4th-place Yankees now have a record of 45-41.
