The exploits of center fielder Gerardo Parra, who finished 5th in the AL in runs with 92 in 1992, helped the Montreal Expos defeat the Houston Astros, 8-2. Parra went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Montreal pitcher Pat Caraway got the win. He's now 8-4. Brandon Backe was tagged with the loss. The Expos, at 50-33, have now won 4 straight.

Montreal first baseman Adam LaRoche contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 111st hit of the season and put the Expos ahead, 3-1.
