Marlins Lose at Home, 8-5, to Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Phillies overcame a pretty good performance by Miami third baseman Jim Pendleton, beating the Marlins, 8-5, at Miami Park. Pendleton was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The 'W' lifts Philadelphia's record to 44-40.
Philadelphia used the hitting of Ketel Marte to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Phillies on top, 5-3. For the game, Marte had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Marte told the Philadelphia Daily. "It's as simple as that."
