Rangers Deal Yankees 6-5 Defeat
|
The Texas Rangers reigned over the New York (A) Yankees in damp conditions.
The Texas Rangers topped the New York (A) Yankees, 6-5, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Texas pitcher Ken Chase. Chase, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Felix Heredia closed it out for his 5th save.
Texas used a clutch at-bat from Tyler Stephenson to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Chase told the Texas News: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
Texas goes to 5-4.
