Giants Lose, 8-6, in 12
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Harvey Hendrick, the San Francisco Giants lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-6. Hendrick was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Giants have now dropped 5 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jim Marshall came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing San Francisco pitcher Oliver Drake, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Arizona on top, 5-4.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Arizona manager Alex Baxter.
