A 7-RBI performance from George Shuba, who finished 2nd in the NL in on-base percentage with .426 in 1995, helped the Montreal Expos beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 12-2. The second-place Expos improved to 48-33.

With Montreal leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Shuba hit a curveball from Kevin Morton for a grand slam home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Expos ahead, 6-1.

"Sometimes, the runs just come in bunches," said winning manager Marwan Najdawi.
