Pitcher James Kaprielian was sensational for the Montreal Expos in his team's 3-1 triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals. Kaprielian earned the win. Lefty West was credited with the save for Montreal, his 3rd of the season. The Expos now own a record of 47-33.

The Expos had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Montreal, with one out. St. Louis, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Matt Kemp dug in at the plate, but on a 0-1 curveball, he grounded out.
