White Sox Nip Brewers, 5-4
|
The Chicago (A) White Sox locked up a win at Comiskey Park, knocking off the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-4. On the mound for Chicago (A) was right-hander Red Munger. He played a major role in the triumph. Frank Francisco, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The losses continue to mount for Milwaukee, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
The decisive blow was delivered by Earle Combs in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Gaviglio to win the game for Chicago (A). The home crowd went nuts.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Milwaukee manager Mike Ejercito.
